Claiming that the best parts of being in their band is recording and swimming in their bassist’s pool, Days of Light Gravity definitely lets this carefree vibe shine through in their debut LP Games to Play in the Rain. The ten songs are certain to make you a believer in their summery blend of effervescent guitars and bright, simplistic vocals, a genre they’ve dubbed “whiskey sour pop-punk.” Be sure to download Games to Play in the Rain on Days of Light Gravity’s Bandcamp page.

What’s your hometown (or what are your hometowns)?
AJ is from San Diego, Rob is from Manhattan Beach, and Will is from San Francisco, but we are based out of Los Angeles, CA.
How did the band come together? How long has it been?
We are all graduates of the University of Southern California’s Pop Music program where we played in various bands together. However, we started recording songs for Days of Light Gravity in the summer of 2013 right after graduating.
How have you grown since you started?
We’ve learned to be patient with the process of making an album. It’s so hard to wait and plan instead of just throwing your first masters out on the Internet to share with your friends.
What sets you apart from other bands?
A big factor that sets us apart from other bands is AJ’s songwriting and our attention to each song’s arrangement. We’re also really silly people, but our songs are very serious sometimes. We hope that dichotomy sets us apart instead of just confusing people…
What’s the best part about being in your band?
We get to record in Rob’s fancy studio, and sometimes we swim in his pool after takes
More times than not, influences tend to bleed through. What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
Weezer, Saves the Day, and blink-182. However, we’ve been listening to a lot of The Hotelier, The Menzingers, and Osoosooso lately.
This is my band! Check out this showcase and go grab our album :)
